Work probs & Christmas pics

Happy 2011!  We had an amazing New Year's Eve this year!  I didn't get crazy drunk (or anything...) which was good because I have a lot on my mind.  Last week was incredibly stressful.  I didn't want to vent while I was at work, so here's what happened.  Totally not my fault, but I feel like since I'm temping, I'm disposable so - maybe that's the end of that.  I'm really nervous about tomorrow but I tend to over worry...

So we got these marketing signs that needed to be hung.  They came in like, three weeks ago and the mailroom guys were supposed to do it.  Anyway the week before Christmas my coworker was out from Tuesday to Thursday - she didn't call me or anything.  So I was there alone.  No problems.  Then came last week - which started out with a huge blizzard.  So nobody made it in to work on Monday.  Then on Tuesday she finally called.  Her daughter had been sick the week before.  Then because of the weather, she was working out of the Long Island office since it was closer to her home.

On Wednesday one of the mailroom guys comes up and he's like 'I need to put a hanger up.'  That's exactly what he said because I remember asking if he meant a coat hanger.  He had no idea and by then I had forgotten about the signs.  If he'd said signs - my lightbulb would have gone off.  So I asked if I should call my coworker in Long Island and he said no.  It could wait.  Ten minutes later she called me and went off on me about it - the signs needed to go up 3 weeks ago and how could I forget?  So the mialroom guy came back - with the office manager and I kind of laughed nervously and told him where they go and he hung them.  Anyway I explained what happened but I'm not sure what to expect tomorrow.

Then, to make matters worse on Thursday we closed early and just as I was leaving I realized the door wasn't locking - at all.  It's been acting up, but at that point it seemed like it was hanging by a hinge.  Naturally everyone had gone home.  So I went to the other floor & the mailroom guy was still there.  He texted the office manager and said that's all he could do for now.  On top of it all, I'm freaking out about that too.   I did what I could and even stayed late, so hopefully that'll prove I actually care about the job.  Because I do and I'll be heartbroken if they let me go because of this.  The sign thing was a miscommunication and now the lock had to break.  I told security too, but what timing.  I'm totally trying not to panic and I doubt I'll get much sleep tonight.

Anyway,

I have Christmas-itis - just want the three day weekend to start!  Hopefully we'll leave early today, my mind's just not on work.  Plus I was late again today - it seems like every week there's a problem with the trains.  So frustrating!  I also get a little homesick this time of year and sad we're not seeing family - but it'll be nice not to have to travel.  Tomorrow I plan to spend the day editing a Christmas postcard from the city - because the window fronts are so spectacular this time of year.  I've never been to Macy's and went last night to shoot some video with my camera - it was really too cool.  I had coupons for Victoria's Secret and JC Penney and enjoyed the holiday rush, even if the stores were really crowded.  I got some good deals!

So I saw a gastroenterologist yesterday for a consultation and will get an endoscopy next week.  I have heartburn - and apparently that can cause my throat problems.  Hopefully he's the Dr. that can help me out.  But I did some research and there are homeopathic remedies to tonsillitis that would prevent me from having to get them taken out.  That's a relief.

Merry Christmas and Happy Yule everyone!

doctors suck

Venting...because that's what LJ is for.  I had the absolute worst doctor's visit last night and practically left the place in tears.  Managed to hold it together throughout the train ride home, grocery shopping and then as I was cooking just lost it.  I'm not sure if I should call this office and complain, but I'm tempted.

Yay!  Our movie Schism's finally finished and ready to be seen.  We're selling copies here and trying to make back some of the $$ we spent on making it...it's autographed and everything.  Makes a great Christmas gift for anyone who enjoys horror/cult movies.

Trying to find ways to get the word out.  Suggestions are welcome...thanks mi amigos!

Halloweekend!

Finally pics from Halloween.  I'm glad we went out partying Saturday night because it gave me an excuse to have 3 costumes, and then by Sunday I wasn't tempted to stay out too late.  So Saturday night's party was called Bang On! and happened in Williamsburg Brooklyn.  Apparently this is the new 'in' thing right now, warehouse parties.  I found this bobbysoxer costume for cheap and didn't think I'd get to wear it until next year - the first one I've seen that wasn't pink!  Boo-ya.

Halloween pictures part I

Halloween was pretty awesome.  It was great because the past 3 Halloweens were less than stellar.  I'm swamped with pictures and spent about a half hour grumbling about how slow Photobucket was last night.  I didn't want to start uploading to Facebook on another tab in case that would slow it down even more.  Hopefully tonight will be better or I'll stick my head through the wall.

We marched in the parade on Sunday night which was pretty amazing - I even got stopped by Channel 11 'Pix' news, they liked my costume so much.  More on that later.  On Saturday, we went to a costume party in  Williamsburgh Brooklyn (the new hipster haven) but more on that in the next post as well.

The weekend before we had our costume party, so that's the subject of this post.  A slew of people canceled at the last minute so it was even smaller than usual.  But in a way, that's all right because it was pretty flipping hot.  The vibe was more chill than my 80s party, so it's all good.

Animals...gone wild!

The last of my birthday presents...edited footage from Costa Rica!  Only 15 months in the making, haha.  We went in July of 2009 and right when we got back Derek had to jump into editing Schism.  So he wasn't able to touch the five hours of video until now.  Since my camera died on the 2nd day (probably from overuse, hehe), I didn't get a lot of animal pictures that I would have.

The whole thing is about a half hour long. If you only watch one thing, check out this first one. It's some shots of Guatamala as we flew in (I think) and random stuff from the hike to Arenal and an unbelievable, enormous tree.

Karaoke

Aw nobody gets as excited about Halloween as I do.  Not mainy replies at  randompictures as I hoped, people are so lame.  I'm working a lot on my costume for the parade and I'm a little nervous because the last 2 years we tried to march were disastrous.  It was so disappointing because that's where you see the best costumes.  So since it's on a Sunday this year, I hope we can plan it better.  I want to show off mah costume!

Finally uploaded karaoke pics.  Even if it was just 5 people, we had a blast :)  I'm so glad my friends don't mind getting drunk and silly (and not a little geeky).

LOL

My birthday was last Saturday.  During the day I had the craziest urge to go thrifting.  And I found this little gem of a tee shirt.  The strange thing is - it seems to be very well worn.  Who would proudly wear something like this?  Or was someone forced to wear it as a reminder of something?  It's very tragic...I love it.  It really makes the mind wander.  What's going on here???  LOL thrifthorror here I come.

Anyway we got the karaoke room Saturday night and had a total blast even though 6 people canceled at the last minute.  Then we had 6 people and one of them rushed off sick.  Apparently she doesn't drink and had some champagne and that was that.  The remaining 5 of us sang for 3 hours then hung out at a bar and chatted.  It was great!  I'm a little annoyed at one of my friend's reasons for cancelling.  I won't go into detail here but I'm not sure if I should say something - I mean, she missed a really good time.  No skin off my nose, but it was my birthday and I wanted to spend it with her.  I'm meeting her tomorrow, so I'll see how the conversation goes.

Coney Island

First, did I mention 'Schism' got into a real, live film festival?  It's happening the weekend of Oct. 7 and it's in Hartford, CT.  So I guess we're gonna take a little trip there, hope I can get the time off work if I need it.  Mah birthday's the weekend before, so since it's a Saturday we're gonna make a night of it.  Karaoke and either burlesque or dancing.  Woot!

Anywa, we went to Coney Island Labor Day weekend, I've still gotta upload 'em to Facebook.  But, yay here they are.  Because it's nice to just go there now and then and actually ride the rides at eat disgusting food at Ruby's.
